Visit the Granbury Opera House for the 2022 Season

Granbury Opera House

One thing that we have an abundance of in our charming small town in Texas is historical buildings, and the Granbury Opera House is a beautiful example of a restored and maintained iconic landmark. Located in the heart of downtown, the Granbury Opera House is the hub of arts, theater, and music for our area and beyond. Even patrons from as far as the Dallas-Fort Worth region frequent our stage productions and live shows.

The 2022 season has an impressive line-up of Broadway on the Brazos shows like the Sound of Music, Little Women, and West Side Story, tribute concerts, and children’s series (but even adults want to see a live version of the Disney favorite Beauty and the Beast). Most importantly the Granbury Opera House breathes life into our downtown, there’s a liveliness to the streets when a show lets out and the theater lovers head out for a nightcap.

As a guest at our Granbury Bed and Breakfast, you’ll only be a ten-minute walk to the Granbury Opera House. Our historic Inn, nestled on the shores of Lake Granbury, has three jewel-box guest suites with a host of comfortable amenities, beautiful shared indoor and outdoor spaces, and a large welcoming dining table for morning meals prepared in-house. The Storied History of the Granbury Opera House

The Granbury Opera House was first erected in 1886 when Granbury was still considered part of the wild frontier. The first show wasn’t held until 1891 and after a 20-year stint hosting Vaudeville acts, dramatic and musical productions the Opera House was shuttered. Most attribute this closure to the Temperance Movement in Texas which was not dissimilar to Prohibition.

In 1970, by a community-led effort, the Granbury Opera House was restored and reopened in 1975. The most recent and substantial renovation took place during 2013 in collaboration with the Granbury Theater Company. Now the Granbury Opera House is a state-of-the-art facility with 309 seats, a brand new lobby and concessions area, but with a design that harkens back to the original architecture and historical details.

We always suggest that our guests plan on catching a show at the Granbury Opera House. If you grab a midday matinee on the weekends, you can head out to an early dinner at one of the amazing Granbury restaurants. If you’re staying with us for a romantic getaway for two, then wine, dinner, and show is a perfect outing for a night out on the town. Be sure to book your tickets ahead of time, as shows are known to be sold out.

Sit Back and Relax at our Granbury B&B

When you arrive at our beautiful Bed and Breakfast on Lake Granbury you’ll love the tranquil setting of our garden grounds, lakefront views, and cozy spaces to sit back and relax. A favorite spot on a sunny, breezy day is out on our private bright Caribbean blue dock with a good book and a strong drink—we make a tasty jalapeno margarita with peppers from our own garden. In the evenings, our guests enjoy stargazing and sitting by the fire or curling up in our shared game room for a movie.

This spring and summer we’re making more improvements to our garden. We started with three raised beds for vegetables and flowers, and now we’ve upped that by adding eight more. This year we should have a bounty of homegrown produce to use in our freshly prepared breakfast and picnic spreads. As we inch closer to the warmer months and harvest seasons, we’ll have more updates on our garden space. Stay tuned!
